| I have been a professional artist/illustrator for thirty-one years full time and an educator for the last eight. I am known for my body of sports related art for the sports memorabilia field but my strong suit is portraits so I get commissions from other fields. Over the last ten years I have self taught myself the Photoshop software to provide a greater range of skills to my clients. Some of my long standing ones are: The San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum, and San Diego Holiday Bowl Hall of Fame, doing their hall of fame inductees, all by me. National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Chicago, their official artist, Missouri Valley Conference as their Hall of Fame artist, and contributing Hall of Fame artist to the San Diego Air and Space Museum. |

I wish you good luck. I still remember every day.
(sorry for my english)
I'm really freaking out. It's due tomorrow and I think I just ruined it. here: [link]
tell me what you think. I need some colors for the upper background and I think I messed up the dress but it seems like there's not much I can do there.

Hope this helps and it is only a suggestion.
Mr. Paluso
Although I already ran to my art teacher at school today and got most of the art done, I am still going to work on it more tomorrow. here's what it looks like now: [link]
I think I'll go with your suggestion with the dark blue to that area because it is loosing some dimension there and the yellow part too. I'll have to do something about the outline of the dress because it seems as if it is blending too much with the lower background. Tell me what you think

Let me thank you for the comment of being an art mentor. It is my pleasure. I think it looks like you got some good advise from your teacher and that you are following your vision of inspiration from Gustav. As for the outline on the dress a color pencil real sharp that is light blue should do the trick. Let me know your grade. Good luck with the rest of your exams.
Mr. Paluso
I'll let you know my grade once I get it back and my ranking as well (we have a ranking system here which I personally don't like). But I'm hoping that I'll get near the top 10 because I'm ranked as 17 right now, out of 54 students in visual arts.
and thanks again

can you help me out with my major art work? its due in two weeks, tell me what you think! here: [link]

So far it is looking nice with your layout. But I need to know what the assignment was suppose to accomplish and what other instructions came with it. This way I can direct you to the appropriate path. Be careful of your color choices and remember the color wheel. I hope the instructor has covered that with the students. Primary colors and secondary colors, complimentary etc. Hope this can help.
Mr. Paluso
the assignment doesn't have a topic, we are meant to create around 1-6 pieces with a message I guess. It isn't that clear. the outcomes assessed are:
1)explores the conventions of art practice in art making
2)identifies the frames as the basis of understanding expressive representation through the making of art
3) investigates subject matter and forms as representations in art making
I can also tell you the marking criteria though (this is for top mark):
-Demonstrates an articulation of ideas and concepts that are elaborated, reiterated, subtle and sustained coherently in the form(s) of work. Meanings make significant references and register on a number of levels
-Displays technical sensitivity, refinement, discrimination, moderation, and is respectful of the conditions set by the selection of materials and limitations including course prescriptions
.. I'm not sure I even understand most of what I just typed up. and I don't think that the meanings in my art make significant references on a number of levels sigh. what can I do about that?
thanks again

I hope your instructor has been teaching you along the way what all this means. Based on what you put here and your art piece I think you are on the right track. My thoughts are as follows: First make sure you have similar shapes in her dress that you have in the background. But this is important, make sure that you have a contrast between the dress and girl and the background. You don't want to have the background so busy that you lose the girl. Second make the colors in the dress to be (you are using an understanding of the color wheel here) complimentary with one another. You can look that up on the internet for explanation of this. And finally make sure the colors in the girl are more saturated than the background. I hope this helps.
Good luck
Mr. Paluso
